How can I recognize my profile as a teacher? - CVExpress
Have you ever been told you have what it takes to become a teacher? Maybe it’s true and you just weren’t aware of it. It’s your teacher profile.
Every person has unique knowledge, attributes, and skills.
However, individuals who have the profile of a teacher possess certain notorious traits.
Each is forged over various stages, whether in a social, educational, or professional environment.
Therefore, you must seek within yourself to identify your teacher profile. And with our assistance, you will find out if you possess these essential qualities for teaching.
Devise a starting point
If you are unsure how to define your profile as a teacher or develop your skills, start by getting to know yourself.
That is, by asking yourself some fundamental questions:
- Your desires: What do I yearn to do? Which activities do I enjoy?
- Your strengths: Which skills will enable me to accomplish my goals?
- Your areas of weakness: Which tasks do I find the most tedious/difficult to practice?
- Your experiences: What training do I have? What work have I done? Did I learn anything from it? How does it connect to the work I hope to accomplish?
- Your setbacks: What stops me from achieving my goals? What problems must I overcome to do so?
Â
All these will work as an exercise to help you start to identify your profile as an educator.
On the other hand, you must learn how to value both your experiences and skills.
It makes no difference where you learned them – at school, in a workshop, at work, or in your community. The main benefit is that it will
increase your confidence while looking for a job.
Signs you fit the profile of an educator
Your profile as a teacher will combine several essential elements, aside from pedagogical training and preparation. For example:
Interest
One of the primary attributes is being drawn to teaching and curious about the methodologies used.
You enjoy helping others
You would be a great teacher if you enjoy helping others. If you seek to contribute to helping them develop as socially or personally better individuals.
You know how to listen and are empathetic
Good communication and empathy are skills that are a must in a teacher profile.
Therefore, it is a good sign if you truly respect and understand the beliefs and viewpoints of others.
And,
if you put yourself in their shoes and have consideration for their needs, you already possess several basic characteristics.
You can lead a group
Every great teacher has leadership skills to guide and be a good role model, whether it be with the students, their families, or the community as a whole.
You are patient
Patience is a quality few possess but is needed in your profile as an educator since it shows you can remain calm in adversity.
You are responsible
A non-quality teacher does not fulfill their duty to the students.
Responsibility is an essential quality in every teacher.
There are more options besides what has already been mentioned. For example:
- Generosity
- Enthusiasm
- Dedication
- Discipline
But, above all is to have a calling for teaching.Â
You must love your profession to be an excellent teacher.
Now you know how to identify your profile as an educator.

I DON’T KNOW HOW TO WRITE A TEACHER RESUME. WHERE DO I START?
Knowing how to write a teacher resume is essential when looking for a school job. Every good teacher should be able to express their ideas clearly, and a CV is a way to prove it.
If you don’t know
how to write a teacher CV, don’t fret; we’re here to help.
You can use some of our professional resume templates as an aid. They are customizable and attractive, and we will fill them for you.
However, if you want to do it yourself,
we will show you how to write a teacher resume from scratch. You will no longer need to wonder where to begin.
HOW TO WRITE A PROFESSIONAL CV
As we mentioned previously, every teacher should know how to express their ideas, not just in class but also in their CV.
To do so, follow these recommendations when writing your CV:
- Write your education and experiences in reverse chronology so that the most recent is on top.
- Use an elegant and professional template. If possible, a design made specifically for teachers. The goal is to make everything crystal clear to recruiters.
- If you have a very extensive career, distribute it on more than one page.
- Save the resume in both Word and Pdf once finished.
- Also, do not forget to add contact information like your phone number and email.
At this point, we also recommend you
add the link to your LinkedIn profile. It is a widely used social network by recruiters to learn more about your professional profile. If you don’t have a LinkedIn teacher profile and don’t have the time to learn how to use one,
we can create one for you.
This is a simple approach on how to write a teacher resume. But what if you have no prior work experience? Let’s take a look…
HOW TO WRITE A TEACHER CV WITHOUT EXPERIENCE
If you don’t have work experience, don’t worry; you can still make a CV that will help you get your first job.
Include the following:
- Your degrees and relevant education. They will be the most important thing on this CV, also include any course related to pedagogy.
- Your goals as a teacher. State your career expectations clearly; this will give recruiters an idea of who you are.
What you can contribute to the school. This is more subjective, but try to be very honest; you can contribute teamwork, leadership, etc.
These are the three crucial things to know
how to write a teacher resume with no experience.
And, if you’ve already worked, what is the most important to include?
HOW TO WRITE A TEACHER CV WITH EXPERIENCE
Don’t just focus on previous jobs. The best way on how to write a teacher cv with experience is to make emphasis on the following:
- Job accomplishments. Schools focus on what you have accomplished in your teaching career. Highlight the achievements that you are proud of in your CV.
- Responsibilities as a teacher. Other roles, aside from teaching, can help you stand out. For example, overseeing the organization of recreational activities at school.
With these two points, recruiters will understand what they can expect from you as a professional.
Now you know how to write a teacher resume with and without experience. Also, we have a wide variety of templates available on our website, so you’ll be able
to create your teacher resume easily.

SHOULD YOU SEND YOUR RESUME TO THE SAME SCHOOL MORE THAN ONCE?
The question of whether to send your CV to the same school is more common than you think. We’ve all had it at some point. The answer lies in your motives for resending your resume to that institution. It is not the same to send a CV to a school multiple times if you were already rejected than not getting contacted.
By this, I mean that if you already had an interview and did not get the job, it’s not advisable to send it again.
On the other hand, you can send your resume to the same school if you have not entered the selection process yet.
Why is there a difference?
I’ll explain it in the following paragraphs.
SENDING YOUR RESUME TO A SCHOOL MORE THAN ONCE WHEN YOU HAVE NOT ENTERED THE SELECTION PROCESS.
If you have
submitted your CV but haven’t been called for an interview or any process of the sort, it is a good idea to resend your CV.
The reason is simple, you don’t know if the resume was evaluated, they might have not seen it and that’s why you haven’t entered the process.
In these cases, sending your CV more than once is an option. Plus, you must consider that if there are still vacancies for the same position, your chances increase.
So, to resend your resume to the same school I recommend the following:
- If you sent it via email instead approach the school personally.
- Improve your CV and include recommendation and cover letters (Discover how to make a Teacher Cover Letter).
- You can also create a teacher video resume for a larger impact.
The idea behind these tips is to increase your chances of making an impression on recruiters. Only by submitting an improved version of your resume will you be able to secure the position you seek.
DO NOT SEND YOUR CV TO THE SAME SCHOOL MORE THAN ONCE IF YOU’VE ALREADY BEEN INTERVIEWED
In this situation, it is best to not resend your CV to the same school if you’ve already gone through the selection process. Because if you’ve already had an interview and didn’t get the position, it will be useless to send your resume again.
At least in the same year you went through that process.
The recruiters already know the contents of your CV, they even spoke to you, so they will most likely not consider it.
In fact, if there is a vacancy and they think you’ll be a perfect fit, they will surely contact you. It is not necessary to send your resume to the same school more than once in these cases.
The only reason why I would recommend it is if a reasonable amount of time has passed and you’ve added new academic and professional achievements to your CV.
Conclusion
The question of whether to
send your CV to the same school is easy to solve. If you have not been contacted yet, it is advisable to do it but not if you’ve undergone the selection process. You should focus your efforts on new opportunities.
I hope this post was useful in any way to solve this common doubt between us teachers.

How to make an original teacher cover letter?
As a teacher, you should be aware of
the importance of having a unique teacher cover letter to
get the teaching job of your dreams. After all, recruiters must get to know the candidates that apply for a particular job well. Thus, a school’s recruitment process is typically demanding, and a well-founded cover letter is valuable.
For this reason, we will explain
how to write a unique and effective teacher cover letter below.
HEADER
Like with any cover letter,
the header is the first step. It should be
simple to read but formal and professional at the same time. This is because it contains relevant information for the teacher recruitment process.
Therefore, it should include:
Your
contact information right-aligned (name, mobile or home phone number, address, email).
The
recipient’s information left-aligned (name and their position, the school’s name, and address).
The
sending date left-aligned.
On the other hand, to make an original teacher cover letter you can add your profession and the name of the vacancy after the caption. However, adapt it to the terms of the job offer.
GREETING
To write a unique teacher cover letter, having a
personalized and direct greeting is crucial.
Since it is the first approach, starting with a greeting addressed to the recipient is advisable. If you do not know their name, you can search on social networks, the school’s website, or call the school.
For example, a simple greeting can be: Dear Jacob Miller, or Dear Mr. Miller.
Most importantly, it should be
written in a formal but natural tone and addressed to the responsible person.
INTRODUCTION
Writing an original teacher cover letter doesn’t require you to repeat what you already have in your resume but to give it your personal touch.
So, in the first paragraph, begin describing your motives, characteristics and what you are interests. However, the words you use will keep the employer hooked, so you must
try to catch their attention.
Likewise, you should provide information such as:
- The motive (the position you’re interested in).
- A description of your professional profile.
- Your most relevant skills.
- Highlight your previous experience.
A good teacher cover letter must be both
brief and captivating while avoiding creating doubts.
HAVE GOOD ARGUMENTS
To make an original teacher cover letter,
you will also need to elaborate on why they should choose you for the teacher job position. Therefore, take advantage of this opportunity to stand out by making arguments such as:
- Your greatest accomplishments.
- Knowledge and abilities.
- Your professional goals.
- What makes you different from the rest.
- Interest in joining the school’s staff.
CALL FOR ACTION
Once you’ve expressed your motives, you must conclude your unique teacher cover letter with a
memorable farewell.
It doesn’t need to be lengthy, but you can
invite the reader to interview you formally and professionally. This way, you will generate more interest and encourage the recruiter to meet you.
Lastly, you must
check that your letter is correct, adhering to the grammar and spelling that characterize a teacher.
